More than just America's favorite truck, the Ford F-150 has been the country's top-selling vehicle since the early-80s—a testament to Ford's continual commitment and penchant for innovation. The F-150 boasts cutting-edge technologies, leading performance and capability, and myriad powertrains and feature options for Tacoma drivers to dial in their ideal configuration.

The current F-150 lineup includes several purpose-tuned variants like the off-road-dominating Raptor, hybrid PowerBoost, and all-electric Lightning. And for the 2023 model year, Ford is expanding the roster once again to include a more accessibly priced off-road model, a limited-time special Heritage Edition, and the most powerful Raptor ever. Here's a quick overview of the new additions to look for when the 2023 F-150 finally goes live.

F-150 Heritage Edition Celebrates 75 Years

First launched in 1948, Ford's long-running and storied F-Series lineup will celebrate its diamond jubilee next year. The automaker is celebrating the anniversary with a new Heritage Edition trim level. The unique appearance package recalls the classic two-tone A-B-A paint schemes of the 70s and 80s. Heritage Edition models are based on the XLT trim level and feature distinctive seat trim, unique embossing on the console lid, and a white "75 Years" logo on the upper windshield and center screen startup animation. Available color options include:

  • Antimatter Blue midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray
  • Area 51 midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black
  • Atlas Blue midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black
  • Avalanche midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black
  • Race Red midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray

New Rattler Off-Road Package

Ford will introduce a new Rattler variation to the F-150 lineup for drivers seeking a hard-working, off-road-capable pickup with a more accessible price tag than Tremor and Raptor. The new 4WD package bolsters the XL trim with FX4 equipment, including skid plates, hill descent control, specially tuned off-road suspension, an electronic rear-locking differential, and rugged all-terrain tires.

The F-150 Rattler also sees style enhancements to reflect its adventure-ready capabilities, including a dual-exhaust system, distinct 18-inch alloy wheels, rattlesnake-inspired graphics, and unique interior/exterior accents.

The Most Powerful Raptor Yet

The F-150 Raptor is already an off-road behemoth. However, Ford, never content to rest on its laurels, has seen fit to take the terrain-tackling tian to a new level with the 2023 F-150 Raptor R. The most notable upgrade comes from a new 5.2-liter supercharged V-8, designed for superior desert-running performance. Based on the legendary Shelby GT500, the prodigious powerplant transmits 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels through a specially-calibrated 10-speed SelectShift® transmission. Additional upgrades include:

  • Purpose-tuned torque converter with heavy-duty turbine damper and four-pinion rear output assembly
  • Five-link rear suspension with extra-long trailing arms, a Panhard rod, and 24-inch coil springs
  • Advanced FOX Live Valve shocks with electronically controlled dampers
  • 37-inch tires and class-best ground clearance
