The Ford Mustang is back for 2019, and like always, it's raring to go. 2019 isn't a big redesign year, but it does come with a few minor changes to the lineup. The new Ford+Alexa makes your Mustang compatible with Amazon systems, and the 2.3-liter engine can come with an active valve-performance exhaust. Then there's the special new trim — the BULLITT — that celebrates the Mustang's life in the movies. Keep reading to learn more.
2019 Ford Mustang Trim Levels (Exterior)
The basic list of trims for the 2019 Ford Mustang numbers eight, although the famous Shelby GT350 joins the lineup in early 2019. The current list is EcoBoost Fastback, EcoBoost Premium Fastback, EcoBoost Convertible, GT Fastback, EcoBoost Premium Convertible, GT Premium Fastback, GT Premium Convertible, and the BULLITT.
Which trim you want depends mostly on what kind of performance you want out of your Mustang: the EcoBoost is your basic option, the GT is the next step up, and the BULLITT is something special. If you also want a good list of features to go with the performance, the Premium trims have what you need.
2019 Ford Mustang Engine (Power)
With the Shelby model out in 2019, the new Mustang has three different engine specs. The EcoBoost option is a 2.3-liter I-4, but thanks to turbo power, it delivers a healthy 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. The GT models jump ahead to a 5.0-liter V-8, and while it's not turbocharged, it still gives you 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The BULLITT has the same basic GT engine under the hood, but thanks to some fine-tuning, it has a jaw-dropping 480 horsepower to offer.
2019 Ford Mustang Performance
Even with a turbo I-4 under the hood, the 2019 Ford Mustang has a performance that'll make you proud. The Mustang is an affordable sports car — the same one it's been since the very beginning — and you can feel the engine purr and roar no matter which one you choose. That said, the GT models come with extra power and acceleration, and the Shelby trims will have even more of both. Special note must go to the BULLITT, which offers extra features that celebrate the Mustang's appearance in the movie of the same name.
2019 Ford Mustang Interior
For the best available interior, you should get a 2019 Mustang with the Premium package. A Premium Mustang gives you features like dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlights, and a rear sensing system. You also get three extra speakers with the option to upgrade to a B&O Play 12-speaker audio system with HD radio and a subwoofer in the trunk. Premium models also give you heated and cooled front seats with leather upholstery.
2019 Ford Mustang Safety Features
No matter which 2019 Ford Mustang trim you get, you can count on eight air bags, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, the SOS Post-Crash Alert System, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Depending on the trim, you can also get driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane departure warning with lane-keep assist.
