2017 Ford Focus vs. Honda Civic: Design Comparison

Both the 2017 Ford Focus and the Honda Civic are 5-seat compact cars. The Focus is available as either a hatchback or a sedan while the Civic is also available as a sedan or hatchback as a similarly-equipped coupe. The Focus RS and ST are two sport-inspired hatchback trim levels that the Civic can't match and the Focus beats the Civic in interior comfort categories such as front hip room, front leg room, rear hip room and rear head room regardless of configuration.

2017 Ford Focus vs. Honda Civic: Performance Facts

The 2017 Ford Focus features 2 different engines, 3 different transmissions and 2 other powerful turbo engine options in the ST or RS. The Civic only offers you two 4-cylinder engines with either a manual or automatic transmission. The 2017 Focus RS version also features all-wheel drive which the Civic doesn't offer and you can even reduce your carbon footprint by choosing to go all electric. The Civic doesn't have an electric option.

Both the 2017 Ford Focus and the Honda Civic feature antilock brakes, a rearview camera, multiple airbags, emergency telematics and more as standard safety features. Both vehicles scored 5-out-of-5 stars overall in NHTSA crash testing and both offer the option of driver assistance technology. Honda's driver assistance technology hasn't fared well in reviews by experts such as Edmunds and the telematics system found in the Civic lacks some of the robust features of the MyKey technology found in the Focus.
